This is one of our beautiful beech trees, one of the oldest trees here.
-
Stretch your arms around the tree.
How many of you does it take to make a circle around the tree? -
Look on the floor around the tree, can you find any beech masts?
-
Beech masts are a really important food for many wild animals, including squirrels.
Sometimes squirrels forget where they bury their food so the nuts are left to grow into trees. -
If you look up in the tree you will see a large nest.
Who do you think built this nest? -
Head to the Visitor Centre, where you will find the next QR code outside.

This was a grey squirrel's nest. Squirrel's nests are called dreys and are usually much bigger than bird's nests.
