This is one of our beautiful beech trees, one of the oldest trees here.

  1. Stretch your arms around the tree.
How many of you does it take to make a circle around the tree?

  2. Look on the floor around the tree, can you find any beech masts?

  3. Beech masts are a really important food for many wild animals, including squirrels.
Sometimes squirrels forget where they bury their food so the nuts are left to grow into trees.

  4. If you look up in the tree you will see a large nest.
Who do you think built this nest?

  5. Head to the Visitor Centre, where you will find the next QR code outside.

These are the beech masts. Feel how soft they are on the inside.

This was a grey squirrel's nest. Squirrel's nests are called dreys and are usually much bigger than bird's nests.
